TRCM Meeting Minutes – October 2022

TRCM Meeting Agenda 1 October 2022

                                                                        10:00 am

I. Call to order:    10:08am        23 members present

II. Announcements from the floor:  Please contact Dick Wareham to purchase “Stinkin Badges”.  Only $10.00.  Dick being present, affirmed that there are about 5 “stinkin” badges left.  Mark let it be known that the badges can be used for almost anything, having to do with identification of self, equipment, and airplanes.

III. Visitors and new members   Visiting were two of the member’s wives, Mellisa Bach, wife of Mike and Rosemary Keller, wife of Dr. Keller and we have one new member, Jeff  Groestma, who was voted in immediately.

IV. Officer reports

President:  Mervin Ory      Moved to Louisiana:       Mark explained about what was happening with the Executive Board.  Mervin appointed him to take over as the Chief Executive of the board until we could hold an election for officers (December). Neil Gates has volunteered to assist him in the running of the club and to bring the website up to date.

Vice President:   Donald Lloyd     Not able to fulfill duties any longer

Secretary:  Al Doucette   Nothing of note

Treasurer:  Greg Hennifer   Gave treasurers report.  Club is solvent and has 72 members plus one.

Field marshall:   Randy L. and Anthony G. :   Anthony G. is going to have to step away from his position as a Field Marshall, due to problems with his back.  He has been working with the pain for too long.  As a result, Randy L. is going to need some help with the maintaining of the field, would expecially like to have some tractor drivers

Safety coordinator:  Richard Arceo:    It has come to our attention, that Richard has been in the hospital with an infection in one of his feet.  Seems to have been pretty serious, with some surgery involved.  Don’t have the full story, as of yet.  Maybe Richard will fill us in when he comes back to the field.   Mark retiterated, NO FLYING SOUTH OF THE RUNWAY, that is, behind the canopy, over the grapes.

Webmaster:  Neil Gates:   Neil wasn’t present, but was supposed to come later.  From what has transpired, on two separate occasions, there is a suspicion that there is a frequency problem at our field.  The one occasion took place when Don B. was flying his new airplane and lost complete control, resulting in a nosedive straight into the ground.  The second occasion, happened to Mark H., on a different day, however, Mark was able to iniate the fail safe on his transmitter, to no avail, following through with the placement of the transmitter perpendicular to his plane and initiating the throttle off and on, was able to regain control, saving his plane.  Neil was to bring some kind of a frequency checker, to check for loss of signal or signal interference.  To date, I have not heard the outcome. (I left before  Neil got there). Mark brought up the subject of losing aircraft in fields adjacent to our runway.  He suggested an “Air Tag”, “Tile”.  There are a couple Apps on your cell phone that can pick up a signal from the “Air Tag”, ”Tile” to locate your downed aircraft. (You must take your transmitter with to activate the servos, so you can hear them).  Some are available on Amazon for 4/for $100.00.   It was also discussed the fact that all aircraft have to have the new FAA id number affixed to the aircraft, where it can be seen, by an inspector, without removing any parts of the airplane.  Also included, I can’t find it but AMA requires, name, address, phone number and  AMA number on or in the plane. It is also required that each pilot be accompanied by a spotter.  It’s only common sense, in case a plane goes down, it’s better if two sets of eyes see where it goes in.

 V.  Old Business     No old business, didn’t really have a prior meeting.

VI. New Business    Future club meeting dates and times, Nominations of club officers, next month, Radio interferences at club field, Polling questions for those who are not able to attend meetings. 🙁 I have already covered some of these above.) It was discussed that the reason for the meeting being changed to 2nd Saturday was no longer valid and a motion was made, seconded and voted on to restore the meeting back to the 1st Saturday. We also voted on dates for next year’s IMAC events, HOWEVER, after voting for the date, which are set in stone, it was discovered, after moving the day of the meeting, the IMAC date we just voted on, fell on the 1st Saturday in August, 23.  Needless to say, the August meeting for 2023, will probably be on the 2nd Saturday.

Poll to come out on decisions effecting our events, so members who can’t attend meetings have some input.  For those who don’t attend meetings and have a computer e-mail Mark Huntley @:  mark@huntleyfamily.net.

Greg brought up about showing some respect, gratitude and thankfulness for the beautiful flying field, we lease for $1.00 a year, when the owners show up at the field.  The owner, sometimes leases out the property, so they have no say in what is grown there. It is not our place to question or complain about the crops they grow on their property. In the 11 or 12 years we’ve been on our beautiful airfield, they have yet to cash one of our checks, so in esence, we are guests and could be evicted at any time.

Randy announced that night flying and BBQ, assisted by Paul M., will be on the 15th of October. The club will furnish the main dish(meat) members will bring other dishes.  E-mail Randy with choices.   rlaneymlaney@aol.com.

VII.  Show and tell:    Don B. brought his new AJ Raven IMAC plane.   It is powered by a DLE 120 and has a 106 inch wingspan..  I did take some pictures of it and as soon as I learn how to transfer them from my new IPhone, to my computer, I will put them on the website.

VIII.  Awards:

Name that Plane:    Mark assured us that the “name that plane” will be reinstated with 5 raffle tickets, one each for the first 5 with the correct “name”.
