As mentioned at our last Club meeting, due to new FRIA (Federally Recognized Identification Areas) approved by the FAA, all recreational UAS hobby pilots must not only have AMA Insurance but also take the TRUST test and obtain a TRUST certification number; as well as register with the FAA and obtain a small UAS FAA#. These are new requisites going forward for all radio-controlled aircraft and TRCM Club members.
GETTING THE TRUST CERTIFICATE – The FAA TRUST Certificate is free to obtain after passing a simple online test. The test is organized into 4 parts with some reading and then some multiple-choice questions. You can’t fail this test; you will be prompted to answer correctly until you get it right. The TRUST Certificate is good for life and needs to be on your person whenever you fly a model. You can access the TRUST test here:

OBTAINING THE FAA-UAS REGISTRATION – It is very simple to obtain an FAA Registration number. The cost is $5 and it’s good for 3 years. You can access the FAA Registration process here:
https://faadronezone.faa.gov/#/register
Once you have your FAA registration number, The number must be on the outside of the aircraft, it can be placed in an inconspicuous place like the underside of the elevator.
Let’s all do our part by completing these simple steps to help protect our flying site.
Thank you,
