The runway replacement is starting this Monday, May 13th. The field will be closed to all flying until the project is completed. The more help and support we receive, the quicker the project will go, and we can all be flying again as soon as possible. RC members from the Fresno club will be removing the runway starting Monday at 0800 with completion by that evening or earlier the next day. The more help, the quicker it will go. Note the ground is still soft and workable and the staples should come up with little effort. Bring claw hammers and/or a crow bars that will fit under the staples and wear gloves and sunblock. We could also use some buckets/or containers to collect the pulled staples.
Bob Kellar has volunteered to BBQ and provide drinks on Monday, but we are sill looking for that type of help on Tue, Wed, Thur, Friday. Lunch will be free for the volunteers and everyone helping. The land owner will be assisting with his equipment to scrape and level field once the old runway has been removed. If all goes smoothly and as planned, we have a potential contractor coming in on Thursday and Friday to install the runway for us.
