I hope that this message finds our members safe as we have had a lot of severe weather this season. Dick and Amilia Wareham have been kind enough to visit the field from afar and have taken a few pictures to allow us a view of the storm damage we have occurred to date. From the pictures sent, I can see that the west end of the runway is flooded. This is typical for our field during this time of year during the rains. Note that our property owner is keeping the pumps running so long as the power to the pumps remains on there should be no severe flooding. From what I can see, it’s working. The awning appears to be in place and holding up. There are chairs, stands, and runway barriers are blown around, but that would be expected. Some damage can be seen with the east end of the runway as it looks like the fabric is torn up. We will further access the field when the weather subsides, and the ground has a chance to drain. Until then, please be safe and avoid driving in areas that may be flooded. Take care of yourselves and each other. Lots of time to build those plane projects we have been talking about and do some repairs on our older trusted flying machines. We will arrange a work party when the timing is safe, and things have had a chance to dry out.
I’ve including a link (not sure if it works?) of the most recent picture of the field from today.
