It’s no surprise that TRCM has a fairly robust group of IMAC pilots that compete at various clubs around NorCal, including our own. But did you know there is another type of precision aerobatic flying that is known as “Pattern”? Similar to IMAC, there are several different classes to compete in. Club class is perfect if you’ve never flown in an aerobatics competition. It’s open to any AMA-legal airplane. A plane that will loop and roll is all that’s necessary. Examples include the Kaos, Stiks, Cubs, Taylorcraft, Apprentice, and the classic T-34.
Sounds interesting, right? Well, the club is sponsoring an introduction to pattern flying immediately following our August club meeting on Saturday the 3rd. Jonathan Soda, NSRCA District 7 Vice President, will be on site to walk you through the basics. So bring a trusty plane and let’s have some fun expanding our knowledge of aerobatics.
