This years Turkey Shoot was a success! Eight pilots turned out to battle for a place on the podium. Carnage ensued and not all planes went home the way they came to the field. When the dust settled the results were clear: Garrett Morrison walked away with first place (42 points), followed by Neil Gates (14) in second, and Jacob Lloyd (12) in third. Looking forward to next year!
Mervin, sorry I had to show you who the Turkey shoot champ is 🙂
An update..Saturday Dec 12, a bunch of us, (about 20), gathered for our monthly meeting. Since the weather was a bit chilly and windy, we just stood around BSing, until it was decided that there wouldn’t be an official meeting. Mervin suggested that we raffle off the large prize. ( A T-28 ARF Kit). If memory serves me, there were about 5 or six tickets drawn, with each person getting to draw three cards from the deck. Finally, Mike Mancebo, drew the Joker on his first draw. The Lloyds donated a Candy Cane full of little Tequila bottles. It was unbelievable, when Dick A’s name was drawn 4 times in a row, before he finally found the Joker.
Saturday, the name of the plane was also announced, with the Lloyds guessing correctly. The airplane was the Bisnovat SK1. Matus Bisnovat of the USSR, designed and built, just one. It was 26ft 3in long, with a 23ft 7.5 in wingspan, with a wing area of 102 sq ft. Empty wt was 3,318 lbs, gross wt was 4630 lbs. Powered by a Kilmov M-105 water cooled engine. Speed was 421 mph, with a range of 621 miles. It had retractable under carriage, to make it more sleek.
